Annual vehicle lift inspections conducted by a qualified automotive lift inspector are required by the ANSI National Standard covering vehicle lift operation, inspection, and maintenance (ANSI/ALI ALOIM: 2008). They’re also referenced in regulations in the United States and Canada. The International Building Code (IBC) cites this standard in Chapter 30, as does the Building Code of New York State (BCNYS) in BCNYS Section 3001.2 and is subject to citation by the authority having jurisdiction in accordance with section 113.1 of the BCNYS.
An uninspected lift can easily become a hazard in the workplace and as a result, insurance companies and OSHA Inspectors alike have recently started to ask about lift inspections. Having your lift inspected includes making sure all cables and pulleys are structurally sound. It’s much better having to replace a frayed cable than a broken cable with a car hanging off the lift. In addition to making sure the lift is safe, our technicians perform any necessary adjustments. We also lubricate any mechanical components that are required to make sure your lift continues to operate smoothly.
Ace Service & Installation offers lift inspection service for 2 post lifts, 4 post lifts, and inground lifts.
We’re service based company just like you. We both know the advantages of inspections and routine maintenance but they’re easy to forget or ignore. You might think you’re saving money, but how much do you save when your air compressor dies suddenly or a lift gets stuck in the air? Annual lift inspections can help avoid costly downtime. If any repairs are required for the lift to pass inspection an estimate will be given for the work to be performed.
